Has anybody ever been to Cambodia?

Want to go on a trip to Cambodia. Any advice, warnings or suggestions. Please let me know?

Cambodia is a very nice country, a little backward in its facilities, but that is to be expected given its recent history. The people are civil, accommodating and friendly.
There are a few places to visit like Phnom Penh its capital city. I stay at one of the smaller hotels for a few dollars a night. I love going to the Foreign Correspondents' Club (need not be a journo) to eat good food and sip on a cool Angkor Beer. Sitting on the cill of the open window looking at the life below and the kids playing in the river opposite.
Angkor Wat and Seam Reap of course are must-see places and the islands in the south are practically unspoiled too.

There are very, very few (if any) ATMs so take American dollars (small denomination bills) or Thai Baht again 100 to 500 baht notes.

Have an open mind an enjoy. The stories of paedophiles, sex slaves and rampant prostitution are mainly myth conjured up by self serving NGOs and various UN agencies who must justify their existence somehow.

BUT please take out fully comprehensive insurance cover that includes air evacuation to Thailand or Singapore and repatriation to your home country.

After Cambodia try Laos - a different experience altogether.

Angkor Wat is the main attraction where they film "tomb raider". It safe to travel but beware of pick pockets. If you carry us dollar, you can use it most of the place. it is hot and humid, loose the tick clothing. other than that just relax a enjoy the trip.
if you are backpacking holiday or not.from thailand to the border,about 17pound.1200 baht ,but usa dollar not sure,be carefull of the beggars children,around the border areas,if you travel from border a long journey from border,ask people around you if traveling same direcention and haggle for the price you are happy with,and be ready for a very bumpey ride,and enjoy your view of real cambodia,take a look at the killing fields and landmine muesem,cambodians are not afraid to take you to these places,plenty of places for around 2 or 3 dollars, even internet cafes, try the mekong buckets,but enjoy yourself.
