Has anyone been to Ankor Wat? |
Travel Info I would like to go but not sure where it is! Is is Cambodia or somewhere? Travel Tips I am from the Ancient of Angkor, The Great Khmer Empire, Cambodia if you want to know more about Angkor what i tell you if you are in PP and need to travel to Siem Reap by bus, the ticket is 3.5$ per person, there you can find a normal guest house may be 10$ per night or so and suppose you gonna stay in SR for 3 days. Tickets for Angkor cos $20 for a 1day pass and 40$ for a 2/3day pass. in addition to entry you need to arrange transport. Bycicle cos t $2-3/day and can be hired from many guesthouse. Motos, Tuks-Tuks, Taxis are other ways but i think it is expensive. anyway if you meet me i will give some Angkor Guidebook, that it is good for you when you are in Siem Reap. if you want more detail about half-day Tour, Oneday Tour, Two or Three day tour in Siem Reap tell me, but better i will give you somebook when you reach PP. The best place to visit is Angkor wat temple in Siem Reap, and the beach in Shiahanouk Ville, very natural beach, alot of places to visit but it depend on the time you have, if you want to see the VERY natural mountain or forest it takes you so much time but i can recommend you somewhere like Pailin in Battambang Province(waterfall, Blue Mountain ....), Rattanakiri and Modulkir (waterfall, natural mountain, wildlife....) very very green country. acutally there is no difficult rule for you to be aware of. The big thing is you have to aware of is accused of being sex with children. The Hotel rate is cheap, you can find it every where when you reach Phnom Penh, guest house is more cheaper. You have to take off your hate when you go Pagoda, or Royal Palace, you have to say Jom Reap Sour when you first meet someone. and the say Lea Hay instead of saying Goodbye everything here is not expensive at all. pple here are very nice and their english not bad. anything else please mail me ra_jerm@yahoo.com welcome to my countrysorry but i have no idea no It is near Siem Reap, in Cambodia. The temples are really beautiful, some are still over-grown by the jungle. It is a lovely place, and is great to visit. Very safe, even after the civil war there. There are lovely places to stay in Siem Reap, and the food is fantastic too. I was there last April. I was with a group of more than 10 people who are in historical heritage conservation. One of them even worked in Angor Wat before for months for conservation of a site. I learnt a lot from the group. It is a pity that there are still a lot of sites that await funding to be properly maintained and put back to a disposition closest to the original. The first site we went is a big old temple that is still in a rugged state. We needed to use hands to climb many times. There are many local people there walking around. To them , it is a temple. It is not easy but it is a good experience. What is amazing is the people there are so devoted to their religion. Angor Wat is a visit spot for tourists but it is the living temple for people there. They eat and pray inside the temple. People are nice and live in harmony - you will find families/ friends/ couples sitting on the lawn along the lake during sunset, having picnic there and chit-chatting. Don't miss the "water village" nearby Siem Reap. It is a village built on the biggest lake in Cambodia. There are floating schools, churches, shops... They even grow vegetables and keep pigs on the water!! See youself to believe it. Kids use plastic basins of size about 60cm in diameter like boat to travel around, paddling with their hands. Food is excellent and cheap. But be careful of the hygiene condition. Suggest dining in restaurants with better hygiene condition. Air Sir-Lanka may offer package for this. Check this out. If you would like the details of the sites I went last time. Let me know Cambodia, its gonna cost a fortune to get there, but very little to stay there!:) |
