Travel Tips
Japan, yes, they still do.. not only in the company, even in their own house when guests come/shopping mall to greet costumers/ etc...
hotels/ business location/ etc
Korea...I have been with Koreans but I didn't notice they do bow their heads...
Others
They do it in real life. It is a sign of respect in their culture.
I'm not 100% sure but I'm guessing it's like bowing to them like making yourself lower than them to show respect?
Asian bowing is a way of what everyone has grown to do, shaking hands. Now days with all the nastyness I'd rather bow than shake hands.
Recapitulating previous postings....sign of respect as well as an analog to shaking hands in western society.
They do that to show respect to the other person.
