What is appropriate clothing for Fiji?

I am traveling to Fiji soon with my wife and am wondering what is appropriate to wear there. I've read that in the towns and villages revealing clothing, bathsuits and short shorts, are frowned upon. We are both in our late twenties. Any suggestions from people that have been there.

When you're at the beach or pool...bathing suit is appreciated and appropriate. You may wear anything you like there but there's just a bit curiosity from the locals when you walk in town with those short shorts or mini skirts you know. But they are still respectful amongst those tourists. I'm sure you and your wife will not walk in town with bathing suits but at the beach only. Basically, locals don't care what you are wearing as long as it's in the right place. It's almost summer time everyday and I saw people dressed with those short shorts and bathing suits but at the right place to avoid misbehavior from anyone. If you wear bathing suit close to the beach or at the pool in Fiji...it;s just normal and locals don't care either but if you are on your bathing suit in town, bathing suits are not meant to roam around town as the people will stare at you all the time.

Unless you are staying at a resort that is surrounded by a local village then your ok. The people who will have a problem with your clothes would be the elders (so-called wise old men of the village), but don't worry that won't do anything bad to you. They'll just make gestures of disproving.
When you are near or in the beach or the pool then swimsuits are appropriate. You may wear shorts and shirt around town, just be discreet and not too revealing. Anything too revealing will be noticed.
