I'm considering getting married in New Zealand - South Island.? |
Travel Info Does anyone have any good tips? and can you tell me whether it is recgonised as legal in the UK? Thanks! Travel Tips Congrats on your up coming marriage. For NZ law and rules on marriage - best to check this out::: Find out the legal requirements for getting married Apply for a marriage licence Locate a Marriage Celebrant Obtain information about how a marriage is registered Request a marriage certificate Find information on getting married overseas Find information about recognition of an overseas relationship in New Zealand Apply to be appointed as a Marriage Celebrant Obtain application forms and find the associated fees Find answers to frequently asked questions regarding marriages All this and more on ::: http://www.bdm.govt.nz/diawebsite.nsf/wp... Others As long as you have had a proper marriage by a registrar and a certificate to prove it yes its legal... Try queenstown.. lovely and green! x I'm not sure of the second question (although I can't see why not.. perhaps contact your embassy - if they can't help you, they can direct you to somebody who can). As for great places on the South Island, though.. there are plenty. The South Island screams adventure. If you're the exploring type, you can get married on top of the Franz Josef glacier, or plan your wedding around Queenstown (adventure capital of the world - skydiving, jet skiing, etc). If you're like me, and would like something a notch down, Queenstown is surrounded by miles of beautiful vineyards. Milford Sound (as you may have seen on Lord of the Rings), on the western coast, is extraordinary, as well.. perhaps a wonderful cruise is something you'd consider. The possibilities are endless and the scenery is breath-taking. Best of luck and congratulations! Me. Modern Day Drifter. Try Dunedin, the Edinburgh of the South. A marriage in NZ is just as legal here as anywhere else in the world, you will get a marriage certificate whether you have a church wedding or a civil service. ( I am not certain of the legality if it is same sex marriage) Yes it's legal everywhere in the world. Quite a few Japanese come here to get married. You can have a wedding in a church or other religious place, a registry office or by a celebrant in a garden to give you three ideas. Congratulations. Go for gold, NZ is the best place in the world to get married, I did! Beautiful settings throughout the whole country & photos that will knock your socks off! |
