Does the us have any military bases in Australia? |
Travel Info Does the us have any military bases in Australia? Travel Tips YES - a new US military communications base at Geraldton in Western Australia. http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/u... There is also the Joint Defence Space Research Facility - The pine gap::::: http://www.alicesprings.nt.gov.au/about_... http://www.abc.net.au/dimensions/dimensi... Others This question was asked a couple of days ago. the answer is no there are no american bases in Australia, however, they do sometimes serve out of Australian military bases There was a US naval base in Exmouth WA until 1992 when the Australian Navy took it over...apart from that I don't know of any other bases that were US operated in Australia. The Harold E. Holt Naval Base was (and still is) a submarine tracking station for the US but now the Aussies relay the info back to the US rather than the US having to have an entire force of people over here to do it. I am from Exmouth WA. Yes there is 1 at Pine Gap.They're mainly surveillance. Spying..Conducted there for any Conflic/ terrorist activities. Nuclear launching or testing etc. Also a new 1 in W.A. same sort of thing..Australia is in a great position because It's 14hrs min. ahead of the Northern hemisphere so early warnings can be given.. Ciao Nothing major Americans can go **** themselves |
