Getting married on the beach in Queensland? |
Travel Info Hi, I wanted to find out if it's possible to get married on the beach in one of the beaches around Cairns. Did any of you experience this? Can you tell me something? Suggestion? thanks. Travel Tips Yes - you can get married on a beach.... only problem is鈥?you have 30+ beaches to chose from in Cairns! (most of them remote) 路 Oak Beach: Many homes owned here belong to celebrities! Near Port Douglas 路 Palm Cove: Accommodation is exclusive and is home to Cairns' most outstanding restaurants 路 Trinity Beach: perfect for families & plentiful - clean BBQ areas 路 Four Mile Beach: Port Douglas' most hotly photographed beach, outstandingly beautiful I am also getting married next year either at Palm Cove, Green Island or at this cute chapel in Cairns Tropical Zoo. (5 mins from Palm Cove) Palm Cove is the most popular for weddings..... http://www.palmcoveaustralia.com/wedding... known for its resorts, very touristy place. .. also why not consider getting married on the Great Barrier Reef? The Esplanade in Cairns is great and the Hilton International Hotel is presently making a small chapel overlooking the waterfront for small weddings. Another options I am playing around with that the moment is getting married on the Tropical and enchanting Green Island. http://www.greenislandresort.com.au... 50 min boat ride from the Pier at Cairns Marina. Beautiful little island the resort and restaurant is fantastic. http://www.paradiseonthebeach.com/weddin... http://www.spb.com.au Good Luck on whatever you decide. Source(s): I live in Cairns Other Travel Tips I haven't seen this and i don't really know the answer to your question, but if you do find out that you can't then you should try an outdoor wedding at a resort. i saw on while i was on my honeymoon and it was beautiful. they had a pool with sand it it actually looked like the beach. If they didn't drain the pool for cleaning the day we had to leave we would have thought it was the beach it looked so real. if you are interested e-mail me and i will ask my husband what the place was called and i will give you the details. Under Australian law you have 3 choices for marriage. 1. A priest of a recognised religious order. 2. Registry office 3. Registered marriage celebrant. Though there is a 4th choice, which is get married in a registry office and then have non-legal ceremony. Beaches, river banks, and the city Canberra are crown land. Which means, no one can own them, no one can stop you using them. While there are local bilaws about setting up structures on beaches or camping, it is not such a big issue for a day. Your problem, is that Cairns doesn't have beaches, it has horrible mud flats. I would recommend going a little bit south to Townsville where there are real beaches and maybe go to Magnetic island and have you wedding a resort. If you are going to get married on a beach you probably want to go to a beach with a nearby park, which is not public land, but would have BBQ areas, covered areas in case of rain and toiltes and so you would want to contact the local council to see if you can use it for a wedding and see if you have to pay any fees. If you have more money, you can have a catered wedding a resort. They will provide food, tables, chairs, entertainment, everything and even accomodation for people coming from other places. There are a range of resorts and maybe some beach restaurants where you can do this. An alternative is to go to one of the many remote beaches which you can just drive to. Depending on how many guests you have, you might need to take some things. But North Queensland is like the TV adverts with vast stretches of beach, where you can wander all day and see no one. In the crowded beaches you can wander all day and see only a few people. You can pretty much get married wherever you like these days - i had a bare foot beach wedding & it was just beautiful & very romantic & there was something very cleansing about getting married on the beach. While Cairns doesnt have some of the best beaches in the world there are still some beautiful spots to get married. Kewarra Beach is nice - then you can have your reception at the Kewarra Beach Resort. As others have mentioned - Palm Cove is perfect! I work at the Sebel Reef House Spa & we know that the hotel do some excellent wedding packages! Plus the spa treatments are to die for! Good luck with your wedding - im sure whereever you decide to get married it will be perfect :O) Living in cairns It's not possible with me, I'm already married! But,my sister was married at resort on magnetic island near Townsville. |
