I'm moving up to hamilton island for work, has anyone done the working thing, if so any tips how life is like |
Travel Info Just want to know what it is like living on an island, is it has great as they make it? how's the accomm, food, etc any tips would be ideal Travel Tips I worked on Hammo in 2000, and found it was like a small town, not like a holiday resort like I expected. I had to share with a diving instructor, who would be up at 6am, and I am a chef, and I finished at 1030 p.m., so I would go back to the room and sneak about in the dark(and still had to pay $80 a week rent to the island). Normally I would get changed and go straight to the night club. Visa copped a hammering. The best thing about it though, is your shifts are normally real world style, not resort style, so you have 2 days off, only work 8-10 hours a day. Plenty of time for activities(get to know the watersports instructors, can use equipment when they are not busy), and enjoying all the great barrier reef has to offer. Something different, relax and enjoy it. The first month is the hardest, and you will probably want to leave, but resist and push on. Others If you are on a working holiday, remember that Australians tax you at about 48.5%, because they will deny you the personal exemption. |
