Is this normal when thinking of emigrating UK - Brisbane , Australia? |
Travel Info Hi folks, My family and myself are thinking of emigrating to Australia via skilled visas. Have started the ball rolling by paying for the skills assessment. yesterday i felt keen to emigrate and full of hope. Today i feel low, sad and unsure if it is the right thing to do. the whole process of emigrating seems overwhelming! having to seel your home, transfer pensions over and virtually sell most things you own and of course leaving family and friends behind. Just want to know if anyone else felt like this when emigrating??? Or is this a sign that I should not be doing this??? Travel Tips One thing that would help to take the stress out of moving is to first get a furnished home for a few months. At least you wouldn't need to stress out about finding furniture, let alone a place to buy or rent straight away! Rental houses in Brisbane are hard to find at the moment, but if you want to buy, the market is quiet and you could get something at a good price. There are nice furnished homes in Redcliffe, northern Brisbane, close to a beach. Here are a couple of sites: http://holidaydeals.net.au/ or http://holidaysinredcliffe.com.au/... All the best, and if you come, Welcome! Source(s): http://holidaydeals.net.au/ http://holidaysinredcliffe.com.au/... Other Travel Tips Hey - I think it is more than normal to feel this. It's a MASSIVE decision to make the move and it's only natural to have doubts and feel overwhelmed................ However, having been to Brisbane twice I know that the quality of life out here far surpases that over here. They say that Brisbane has 300 days of sunshine a year, can you say that about the UK! Plus the beaches are amazing and can you imagine getting home from work and then going out to the beach after. Your lifestyle will be so much healthier and your kids will be out all the time, not stuck inside playing computer games. It will be all worth it in the end. But giving up your material posessions and your home is really wrenching and the thought of leaving your friends behind is horrible. But there are so many good things to look forward to. My brother left the UK at 18 and went to live in south africa and he's never looked back since. He's lived loads of places and his daughter has had the most amazing childhood. If I had the skills to do it I wouldn't hesitate! Go for it.Brisbane & surrounding district worth residing in. Cost of living reasonable weather etc great. Been there but only on holiday It is perfectly normal to have doubts when in the middle of a major undertaking like moving house and moving across the world makes it more so. You will come through it and never regret the move. "They say that Brisbane has 300 days of sunshine a year, can you say that about the UK! " People say all sorts of things, don't believe everything they say. Brisbane does have a lot of sun and you will see the sun most days but it also rains, on average, on 135 days of the year with most of those in the summer. Brisbane is tropical and has a wet season. Its annual rainfall is about twice that of London. Brisbane's climate http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/averages/t... Mind you, I wouldn't let that stop you. When it does rain it usually doesn't last long and it is still warm. sounds totally normal to me. They say moving house is one of the most stressful things that one does in life so you will feel it even more when moving country and leaving so much behind. Remember it is a new beginning and think of it as an adventure. |
