What is it like to live in Kohimarama (Auckland)?

Travel Info
I would love to hear from anyone who has experiences of living in Kohimarama as i am planning to move to Auckland and i am trying to chose an area. Or anyone who has information on what the beach is like, the public transport to centre auckland. Also if there is good affordable accomadation and the crime rate etc.
I would really appreciate all input

Travel Tips
I live in Kohimarama and have done for nearly 10 years. Its a really good place, close enough to the beach yet also close to Town and Newmarket area. Public transport into town or Newmarket is very easy, either catch a bus down on the waterfront or up on Kepa Rd by Eastridge shopping centre and will go straight there. Find the best way to get further than that though on the bus is to catch a bus into one of the hubs ie. Britomart and go from there..
I find the beach a lot nicer than Mission Bay - a few years ago they replenished the sand and now its great, we have dogs and they just love it down there. But you cant realy beat mission bay (which is just a few minutes walk away) for the restaurants and enttertainment, there is a movie theatre and a few times a year there are festivals such as Jazz concerts down by the beach.
Accommodation shouldnt be too bad - depends where you want to go, if you stay a few km's from the beach when you're looking then I think that the rates would be very comparable to anywhere else in Auckland (though I guess in general they are pretty high)..
The only crime that I have been party to is my car getting broken into on the street, but thats once in 10years, so cant say that crime is a huge problem here at all.
Hope that helps Source(s): Live in Kohi
Other Travel Tips
Kohimarma tends to be one of Aucklands more "expensive" suburbs, and the rent on accomodation will match that, but there will always be people looking for flatmates, and willing to share costs. The crime rate is the same as anywhere really, but its not particually bad, one of the better suburbs.
The beach is lovely, leads on to Mission Bay, very beautiful, lots of cafes. Very popular in summer.
Public transport around the city tends to be quite good, as you have several options to choose from..
