Kalbarri West Australia its got it all beaches,fishing and hiking up the river gorges and it is a great for kids and best of it only takes me 1hr 20 mins to get there.
Others
Binna Burra or O'Reillys in the Lamington National Park. Hiking, camping, eating, cabins, horses, wallabies, exploring, abseiling, dancing - it's got everything.
Dandenong mountains - near Melbourne. Serene, quaint little towns and the BEST devonshire tea with scones EVER.

The great ocean road - from Melbourne. So many points of interest. Surfing, hiking, the Apostles.
