Travel Info Im leaving here on the 26th what type of clothes should I take?? What type of weather is in Australia in this time of year? Thanks !! There's a big difference in climate and temperature, particularly in winter. No, New Zealand and Australia don't have the same weather. This is the answer I gave to another girl who asked a very similar question. Are you travelling together? Layers would be the best way to approach what clothes to bring, if you are travelling extensively across our great country. In some areas (northern tropics) you would only need light clothing. In other areas further south you would need to have a warm jacket or coat to put over the top of everything else. Just remember, the further south you travel the colder the temperatures. It is winter now in Australia. I am from Sydney. And in Sydney it's been raining for almost 2 weeks now, very windy and cold temperature ranging from 14 to 18, but it feels much colder than that because I live infront of the beach. However it snows now in other parts of Australia. Best place in Australia is Queensland, it's where most Australians take their holidays, the weather is better up here, right now it's mid Winter and today we have 22 degrees C and sunshine. NZ is a lot cooler than most of Aus exept for Tasmania where the temp is similar to NZ.
