Cairns averages at about 24 掳 to 28 掳 C dry season and in the summer (wet season) Dec 鈥?Feb 30 掳 to 35 掳 C Not as built up as the larger cities, more laid back, no traffic jams or millions of high rises.. The Cairns Esplanade is only a couple years old, free access to large lagoon swimming are right in town! http://www.cairnsesplanade.com/gallery.h... you are spoilt for choice of restaurants on the main strip there also. Cairns Central Mall is a 10 min walk from the Esplanade for your shopping Hundreds of international star hotel and resorts to choose from. Public transport is everywhere in cairns 鈥?although if you are going out on the reef or other tourist attractions, most will pick you up from your hotel. Most people stay at Trinity Beach http://www.trinitybeachtourism.com.au... or Palm Cove .. http://www.cairns.aust.com/palmcove/inde... type in Trinity beach of palm cove and you will get so many offers of packages, reef trips, car accommodation in one. You have everything here 鈥?believe me you will not be bored! Great Barrier Reef Adventures:::: One day trip - A trip out on the reef to Green Island - http://www.greatadventures.com.au... or http://www.greenisland.com.au or right out on the Outer Reef Activity Platform - with buffet lunch - well worth it ! About Green Island here - http://www.greenislandresort.com.au... You can snorkel out on the reef, take a glass bottom boat, do the scoobdo - http://www.scubadoocairns.com or seawalker http://www.seawalker.com.au - all great experiences there is half day trips or full day. Other adventures activities to do in Cairns:::: A trip to the Aboriginal Culture Park http://www.tjapukai.com.au and on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. http://www.skyrail.com.au (same car park, right next door to each other) The skyrail takes you up to the rainforest village of Kuranda. http://www.kuranda.org - or take the skyrail up one way and train back down to the city. Kuranda Scenic Railway http://www.ksr.qr.com.au Port Douglas is about a 50 min drive from Cairns city 鈥?worth it for the scenery. http://www.portdouglaseguide.com... or http://www.vcentres.com.au/port-douglas... Go to http://cairnsdome.com.au for more info 鈥? Enjoy your time in Australia! Others Gold Coast and Brisbane is in Queensland and Melbourne is in Victoria. GC to Brisie is about an hour drive up north. There are heaps of amusement parks in GCoast. Check their web pages. Dream world is one of the good ones. Plus take a drive to Australia Zoo (late Steve Irwin) at Sunshine Coast. There is a Versace Hotel and a Sheraton close Main Beach (suburb) Gold Coast which is close to sea world. Food is excellent in Main Beach. Or you can stay right smack in the middle of Surfers Paradise. Either at the Marriot or Allunga hotel and apartments. (can get noisy at night) Or if you like to gamble go to Conrad casino they've got hotel rooms as well. *all these hotel has a pool and kids club except for Allunga. This is like trying to tell someone visiting the USA where to go. Australia is bigger than the USA and has as much to see. I suggest yiou read something about Australia first and then decide what you would like to see. Bill Bryson's book "Down Under" would be a good place to start. When you have decided where you want to go, you will find there are many people willing to give you details about those places but at the moment it is like telling you all about Chicago when you want to go to New Orleans. The places I like might not be those you like and vice versa. To me a week on the Gold Coast would be hell on earth yet many people like it there. There are good hotels in all the capital cities and tourist spots. By the way, in Australia it is called transport. Transportation was the sentence handed out to many of the early settlers of this country and it still has that meaning. omfg! the guy who answered 2 b4 me... ! australia is not bigger thn USA Gold Coast is a dump. Don't waste your time and money there. If you are going in the next two months, go to the snow. its fantastic. Perisher or Thredbo in NSW check http://www.perisherblue.com.au/winter/in... for Perisher or check http://www.visitvictoria.com/displayobje... for Victoria ski valleys.. experience |
