What does this phrase mean in Oz? |
Travel Info "Don't be such a Jason." Travel Tips I've never heard it. If it's referring to Jason Donovan it would probably mean "Don't be such an idiot or fool." Others Why is he a fool? In 1992, he launched a successful libel action against The Face magazine who published allegations that he was gay. Donovan won the case. Donovan had alienated his gay audience, a significant part of his fanbase. There are many reasons. This could just be a private joke! I have heard "don't be a Nigel" which would be a nerdy person. certain names have been given particular connotations usually associated with a real person or character. The "Jason" could possible refer to Jason Donavon - a soapy star turned singer (starred opposite Kylie Minogue in "Neighbours") and possibly the most famous Jason in Oz. Never heard it myself. Only don't be a Nigel like the first answerer said. Sorry. Lol no idea, a lot of guys say don't be a (boys name follows) i think yeah its kinda like don't be a nerd or like stupid or something. In New Zealand we also say.."Don't be such a Norman" as well.....who knows where it comes from??? |
