What is the best place to go skiing in New Zealand for an expert skier? |
Travel Info For an expert skier, are there any places worth going to? What is the level of the terrain and the quality of the snow? If I am used to skiing in the Rockies in America, am I going to be disappointed in the quality of the skiing? Travel Tips Mt Ruapehu (North Island), Hutt (Christchurch), Incredibles (Sth Island). There are too many ski fields!! An American friend of mine is a really good skier and he loved the ski fields near Christchurch. Others Well I was only ever a beginner skier over the years.... (never got any better LOL )..... but I would go for Queenstown personally. - or anywhere in the south island Here is a site that tells you all the levels of terrain http://www.snowbound.co.nz/skifields.htm... Also check out http://www.snow.co.nz - had all the latest snow reports etc. used to live in NZ Basically it is all in the South Island of New Zealand. Close to Queenstown there are a few good places Coronet Peak is probably the best, a few Olympic teams practice there during the North Hemisphere summers. There is also Cardrona and Snow Park that are fun to go to. You should definitely do some Heli-Skiing while in NZ, that is definitely the best of NZ, in particular Mt.Hutt. Lived in NZ south island all last summer. Currently living in Tahoe, USA. mount hutt ... south island , season just opened , |
