My daughter applied for a scholarship to New Zealand and she has a good chance of getting it.? |
Travel Info Anyone have any experience going to college in New Zealand and can tell me what she can expect....what to look out for etc? I appreciate it. Travel Tips I personally haven't studied in New Zealand. But I had friends who have studied there. Before Graduating from High School I had looked at many Universities I may have wanted to attend. New Zealand was one of them, Unfortunately for me they required no less than a 4.0GPA which I did not have! From what I gathered it is a beautiful country with High Standards of Education. I believe their University is somewhat harder than what you would find in other parts of the world...Closer to the British System. Other than that I can't tell you much else. I did do some searches and came up with these sites....the first has blogs and articles about New Zealand life and University.... http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/life... This one is a general guide about New Zealand. University Life and culture: http://www.infozee.com/nz/life.htm... Hope this Helped! Others well i dunno bout the education side of things but if she's not racist... she'll fit in great! kiwis are lovin people who are very proud of their family roots and maori traditions. They're very family orientated. New Zealand is a really mixed multi culture because when i went over there were a lot of Indians, Asians and Islanders! Its landscape and scenery is stunning i live in Australia but i have been there about 3 times, and they're summers are just right; not too hot not too cold. They got freezing winters though hahaha. sorry i cant help u Depending upon the city she is going to, there will be different things for her to look out for. New Zealand was voted the second safest country in the world in which to live, so that makes NZ a good choice. Overall there seems to be a more relaxed attitude down here in Dunedin, and the student population makes up a large proportion of our people. Hi, I live in NZ although I was born oversees. Where to go really depends on what she is interested in. If she is a real outdoors person I would recommend she goes to Christchurch or Dunedin (big cities on South Island, both university towns and therefore have many young people). If she likes clubbing, getting to know different cultures, I would recommend Auckland (biggest city) or Wellington (capital). Overall, NZ is really safe for women (although normal precautions do apply like in any country). New Zealanders or Kiwi's are very welcoming especially to foreign students and they are really proud of their country. She made a great choice of coming to NZ!! |
