I need advice on getting jobs in WA mine areas, what should I do? |
Travel Info I am thinking of getting a job in the mining areas of Western Australia and was wanting to know if anyone could recommend (young) female appropriate jobs and where is the best place to look for jobs. I am happy to go and get other skills such as getting a heavy rigid truck licence as I have heard that truck driving is common for females. Are there any other suggestions/ advice. Travel Tips The good news is that truck driving is common for females and pays excellent money on mine sites. The mines don't generally care about truck license as this is not necessary on site and they train you up themselves. The bad news is although there are many job vacancies (easy to find online) they all want at least 6 months experience on a mine site. Your best option is to arrive at a mining town and network from there and you will probably find work easily although accommodation is scarce. If you really want to work in W.A mining area you can. Good luck!
