Travel Tips
I can only speak for New Zealand.

Like all countries we have crime. However, I can think of no particular spot that you need to be warned about. Just take the normal precautions that you would take when travelling anywhere as a tourist. Stay away from isolated places at night, don't leave valuables lying around, lock doors etc etc

Equally, I can't think of anything overly dangerous on the animal and/or insect front. A couple of poisonous spiders whose bite wont kill you but may knock you about for a couple of days; and no snakes. No crocs, lions, tigers blah blah blah although, if you're out walking in the forest and you come across a wild boar (or bore - of which there are quite a number) I would run the other way or find a tall tree to climb. Just use your obvious catlike instincts.

Mike C is simply trying to wind people up (and seemingly achieving his aim). They say there are three types of lies - lies, damn lies and statistics. I think you'll find that in New Zealand, while crime is an unfortunate by-product of allowing humans into the country, the statistics are elevated by the fact that New Zealanders are outraged by any sort of offence and report 'crimes' at the drop of a hat. (I had a friend who came out to find someone had bent the windscreen wipers on his car and reported it to the police - add one to the crime statistics on auto related crime!! Where else in the world would you find that going into the crime statistics). Interesting to note also that Mike mentions Norway. I'm not sure which survey he is talking about, there are so many these days; but a recent one (World Peace Survey) which had Norway at the top also had New Zealand in second place!! And still another survey which had Norway at the top again had Australia third!!

I can't give you any assurances, unfortunately, regarding being ravaged by wild tribal women (or non tribal for that matter). However, I can only suggest that, if it happens, just go with the flow. At best you may enjoy it, at worst it'll be a story to tell your grandchildren.

And hey, no fair to Westport!! I wouldn't go out of my way to visit but it isn't that bad.............

i am Aussie and are you joking we are very peacefull people

mike c has no idea what the hell he is talking about i live in Perth have done for 46 years and never had a problem mike C piss of

i don't think a wombat will rash out to attack you and don't think any tribal women would bother either

um eagle women we have salt water croc's so if you are up north of Australia i would watch all waters even the beach
Nope, the safest , cleanest countries in the world!
Westport in New Zealand is horrible.
Avoid Perth at all costs, for several reasons; 1: It has one of the highest crime rates in the country, 2: It鈥檚 full of dangerous aboriginals, 3: after a few hours being there you will want to slit your wrists out of pure boredom.

As for the person who said that Australia and NZ are the safest and cleanest countries in the world, they need to do a bit more research. Auckland NZ has the highest crime rate per capita in the world, worse than South Africa. Australia is somewhat become a flight country and starting to have a lot of gang and gun violence.

Oh and for your information, Norway actually won the cleanest and safest country in the world award, again!

Enjoy your Holiday in Australia, just dont live there.
Ignore the bloke who said not to come to Perth all cities have crime you just avoid the areas of low income like places called Maquarie Fields Sydney.
West Australia has some great areas for tourists Fremantle for example is fantastic you can go to a place called Rottenest Island from there and you can go down south to places like Margret River or Yallingup.
You can go up north to places like Monkey Mia were you can see dolphins come in from the wild or to the beautiful Ningaloo reef and Coral Bay and see the whale sharks.
No matter where you go you will have a great time and find most people friendly and helpful.
One of my dream vacations, when I get around to it. I am a horse person, and there are many Australians on a site I visit. The crocs are about the only thing they have mentioned avoiding! They say if there is water, look for crocs, unless of course you are at the beach.
