Budget To Take To New Zealand 10,000$ NZ? |
Travel Info I want to go to New Zealand and I have worked out that I will be taking around 10,000 dollars. As long as I do not go to extravagent do you think this will be enough for three months. I will be using YHA's and other local accomodation. I will also be going on a farm stay to keep the budget fairly healthy. Any help or advice appreciated. Thank you p.s., Are there any other cheap ways of accomodation-apparently camping is illegal-or sleeping it rough. Ta Travel Tips Buy a station wagon car, like a camry or magna, on http://www.trademe.co.nz (NZs largest auction) for around $NZ1200 ($900US) with 6mths WOF attached, travel well and at your choice, take a tent if its spring thru autumn, altho the wagon gives u an emergency bed for the night. Camping rough is often OK, but no fires or rubbish, and be careful of drunk louts causing you grief in the middle of the night. Safety in numbers, camp where others are. The DOC sites mentioned above are great for al fresco camping, well worth it- and often very cheap. http://www.doc.govt.nz/templates/default... Food is reasonably priced, fuel is comparatively inexpensive ($1.50NZ ltr). A cheap farmstay can be had for a little work with wwoof (http://www.wwoof.co.nz/) Spend on the good beer & wine, great seafood, amazing activities. Others 10k should be enough money for the time that you plan to stay there. I went to NZ for three weeks, spent some time staying with my daughter, but also we went travelling for 10 days in the camper van and stayed in van ,but also in youth hostels.Hostels are very cheap and food is also cheap to buy.I took about 拢2000 , but came back with most of that even though i payed for our meals and trips. You should have plenty there to spend. That should be ample....but I guess it depends on how long you want to stay too! There are not many YHA's as such in New Zealand, but there are many hostels (from different associations etc) that are scattered around the place......you also don't say when you are travelling as there are peak seasons in the summer here, with school holidays at the end of Dec to early Feb being the main ones and there are lots of tourists too...so some places may be booked out over certain times...New Year in particular. You can camp and there are quite a few camp gounds ( there are also some run by the Department of Conservation (DoC) as well as those as specific campgounds.....you could camp in some areas not in these places...ie sleeping it rough, but it would depend. for three month stay - buy a cheap car - you can find them for sale from other travellers at the yha - i.e.christchurch - bulletin boards - or signs on the cars parked in the city centre square. you can also get cheap tent, sleeping bag, etc. from travellers leaving the country. best to stay at private campgrounds, they are much safer & all have great kitchens, laundry, etc. if you take your automobile association card with you, you can get free maps & accommodation booklets - choose the highest rated places to stay. at the end of your stay, put a sign on your car & sell/pass it on to the next traveller. $10,000 for 90 days = $110 spending per day yha is less than $20.00 per night meals about $30.00 per day if you cook your own. car expense = $30 per day max you'll go home with $$$$ |
