Travel Info How did he die? I know it was a long time ago, but i loved his shows! I cant believe this! Travel Tips He was swimming with stingrays for a documentary he was filming. Steve swam over the top of one of the stingrays & it became frightened. The stingray tried to defend itself by sticking out it's barbed tail. It ended up piercing Steve Irwin in the chest. I wish I knew if this were true, because it seems to me that other people might benefit from this knowledge. It was a terrible tragedy. Steve Irwin, 44, died today after he was fatally wounded by a stingray barb to his heart while filming a sequence on Batt Reef off Port Douglas for his daughter's new TV series. He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas where he had been filming an underwater documentary when it occurred. Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas. Mr Irwin, 44, was killed just after 11am, Eastern Australian time. |
