Working and travelling Australia? |
Travel Info I was thinking about travelling around Australia and picking up work as I went along, how easy is this does anyone know. And what sort of things would I need to know? I live in Australia so i wont need a visa or anything like that. Travel Tips Being a Aussie also, the skills that I suggest would be beneficial to you are - bartending skills . There are always jobs around for people to work behind bars or making coffee - and if you can do either of those jobs well it helps. You might also look at getting a Gaming license - the procedure varies from state to state, but they generally last 10yrs and that would open up the venues in which you can work, such as some of the smaller country towns. If you look at what courses are available to your local TAFE, they should have those type of courses, plus food handling and other things like that which are good for when you want to travel. Others That's a great idea! I know this really cool place in the middle of nowhere, I think it's a crater of some sort............. Welcome to Wolf Creek! lol. first look at your skills and work experience - you should be skilled in temp work in all the places you want to stop at - such as housekeeping skills in tourist resort areas, bartending skills, cash register skills, casino work. if you don't have the skills you can take short courses at TAFE. next - how do you plan to travel - do you have a van - where do you stay/sleep while working? you will be competing with overseas visitor workers who are prepared to work for min. wage so you need to accept that the pay won't be the greatest. |
