What do things cost in Australia compared to US?

Travel Info
I don't just mean the cost of living, but normal every day things like gasoline, Pepsi/Coke, alcohol, etc. Is this stuff expensive in comparison to your wages? Minimum wage?
Minimum wage here is $5.15, Pepsi/Coke on sale is good for $2.50 a 12 pack, etc. Thanks!

Travel Tips
check out the prices online for australian groceries.
gasoline is about $1.25 litre (x4 for a gallon)
pepsi about $2.50 a litre size bottle
alcohol - wine about $6.00 plus for a litre bottle
min wage is higher here - so are taxes inc. GST
cars are more expensive to buy
the best part about australia is it has 21 million people - not 250 million - i'll take quality over quantity anytime. Source(s): http://www.bananablue.com.au/
Other Travel Tips
If a 12 pack of Coke costs only $2.50 in US then Australia is much more expensive cause 1 can is about the same price in Aussie $. But at times you can find special offers.

Actually it's hard to believe that a 12 pack is on sale for only $2.50... that's roughly 21 cents for 1 can!
PETROL PRICE IS ABOUT1.25 A LITRE MINIMUM WAGE IS 6.00
My daughter's father lives in the US and visits Australia twice a year, and he does nothing but whine about how expensive everything is. So that's a good indication. Funny because I arrived from the UK with strong British pounds in my pocket and found Australia dirt cheap. Just shows how weak the US dollars is these days I suppose.
A newspaper is $1. Soft Drink can be from $1.50 (a can) to $3.50 (2Litre bottle)

A carton of bear (24 bottles) is between $30-$60..depends on quality your looking at.

But my dad went to the US and he braught back a knife set (kitchen knives) for $30 USD and they would cost around $150 here in Australia!! He kept saying how cheap it was over there!
A Mars bar is $2.00, can of coke $1.80, we get $5,000 to have a child. Centrelink encourage people not to work so they can get paid to stay home and we dont have to stand in incredible cues wasting valuable time like people do in the U.S. So in general, it is very inexpensive here and we live like kings!!!!!
