American visiting NZ...?

Travel Info
I'd really love to visit New Zealand above any other place in the world, but I'm afraid that people there might not accept me? Since I know being American isnt really best thing to be right now (or ever :P) I'm sure I wouldn't be...ostracized or anything you know but! I dunno I wouldn't want people hating me or disliking me greatly because of it.
I know it's a silly question, it was just bothering me! Any input would be appreciated. :)

Travel Tips
Kia Ora! C'mon down - don't be scared!

I am an American studying in NZ and New Zealanders have been very very good to me.

I seriously doubt that you would be ostracized or singled out, (at least not because of your funny accent). For the most part this is NOT a prejudiced country, and if you are at all worried about being put to task for being an American, just tell them you're Canadian. Unless you're from the deep south, you will probably be believed.

Sure, I get my share of ribbing from Kiwis who jest about the 'maniac' who is running the USA but I plead innocence--I didn't vote for him!

Come and take advantage of the free visitors visa, but be forewarned, you'll have to pay a visitors fee when you leave.

Hope your holiday plans turn into reality. It's a beautiful country, truly Godzone (God's own) and I am very grateful to be here.

Other Travel Tips
Why would being an American not be the best thing now? Are we talking about New Zealand or Iraq?? You've got nothing to worry about at all! Kiwis are very hospitable and friendly, you won't be "ostracized" or "hated" for being an American. I lived there for a year and the only consequence i had for being an American were all the curious questions about the US pop culture!
youll fit in - no matter where you go these days its all multicultural..... oh and as long as you like sheep!
Hi, If you want to visit NZ I recommend that you do it. NZ is a very beautiful country and you would love it. You should hit the South Island because it is better than the North. Heaps more to see and do. The people of NZ are not going to dislike or hate you cause you are American (be yourself). You will be surprised at the hospitality and the way people interact with you, they are friendly and outgoing. Hope you enjoy your stay.
Come on over, no body will pick on you. If anything they will be very interested to hear all about the cool things you can do and see in America. People will find your Accent amusing to. Youll have a great time.
Don't worry about it. New Zealanders are some of the nicest people in the world. You'll have a great time there.

Even if you do get a few jibes about your accent or George Bush or whatever, remember that both Aussies and Kiwis are great jokers. We tease each other a lot and it's usually tongue in cheek and a sign of affection. It pays not to take people too seriously. Americans are still pretty popular over here, on the whole.
