New zealanders and australians? |
Travel Info I am interseted to know what are the main differnces between the two. Accents, pesonalities ect. Are they freindly! cHEERS Travel Tips In reality Aussies and New Zealanders really love each other but pretend that they dont so they are often having a bit of a jibe at each other or trying to kill each other on a rugby ground- you know the brotherly love kind of thing!. I am australian and always reckon that the New Zealand accent sounds a lot like the South Africans. I watch the NZ motor patrol and coast guard shows and they seem to do strange things with their vowel pronounciations. As already mentioned feesh (fish) is an obvious one- but in the working dog trials form NZ one time I had a bit of trouble for a while with thier pronounciation of paddock and even sheep. Others We are very friendly. Our accents are very different. Kiwis sound more like Scots, whereas we have a twang all of our own. We love sports, and ribbing each other. Besides that, we are pretty much the same. Im an AUstralian born half kiwi The main difference in accents is that the Kiwi's (New Zealanders) often pronouce the letter 'i' as 'u' and Vice-versa. ie. the word 'tin' would sound a bit like 'tun'. Also Aussies (some of them anyway) say 'Mate' and Kiwis say 'Bro' in general conversation Being Australian and knowing Kiwi's. The South Islander sound quite Scottish and roll their R's. Also pronounce i as u or e IE six sounds like sexx Ben sounds like bin Personality wise we are very similar and easy going. Maori's are very, very close with family and friends. BF is a south Islander Kiwi, best friend is a South Island Maori and many many friends are from both Islands. Me= Aussie! |
