AUSTRALIA - *Passport, Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) or non-electronic label visa, proof of onward or return ticket, and sufficient funds are required. An ETA or non-electronic label visa is required for tourist or business stays of up to 3 months. An ETA is an electronically stored authority to travel to Australia and can be obtained online at www.ETA.immi.gov.au or through participating travel agencies or airlines. Minors not accompanied by a parent or traveling with only one parent need notarized written parental consent from the absent parent(s). HIV test required for permanent resident visa for applicants age 15 and older; tests taken in the U.S. are acceptable. More information about entry requirements to Australia (including for longer stays) is available on the Embassy of Australia鈥檚 web site at http://www.austemb.org. Yes. All travelers to Australia, except New Zealanders need visas. You can get one through your travel agent or a consulate.
No....our two countries, Australia & America have an agreement with each other. I came over here on what is called "a visa waiver". This means you can also go to Australia without one and stay for three months. You will however, require a work visa if you intend to look for a job whilst over there.

You will need to apply for the work visa here in the States and it can be done online. I can't remember the government site but perhaps if you google it, you may find it that way.
