What continent is New Zealand a part of? |
Travel Info What continent is New Zealand a part of? Travel Tips New Zealand is not part of any continent. These are the continents of the world... Africa North America South America Europe Antarctica Australia The reason New Zealand is not a continent is because, a continent can be defined as- Continents are understood to be large, continuous, discrete masses of land, ideally separated by expanses of water. Although New Zealand and Australia are separated by expanses of water, we are not on the same techtonic plate. I believe some people are confused when they refer to New Zealand as being apart of the 'Oceania' continent, as there is no such thing. New Zealand is in the Oceania region- Oceania is a geopolitical region, rather than a continent, consisting of many countries in the Pacific Ocean, including those in the continent of Australia and the Pacific Islands. I hope this helps! Others none it is an island like Fiji it is often included in Oceania and Australasia, but neither of those is a Continent they are areas i dont know. thats a good question. Its continent is named Oceania. It's part of the continent Australia. However in olden days, this continent was known as Oceania. It is part of Oceania - which is not a continent and associated with Australia. It's part of Australasia (note the spelling, not "Australia" as other people have said) Also known as Oceania. |
