Hi, i'm doing a research on gift giving in New Zealand, what's New Zealanders policy on gift giving? |
Travel Info it would be great if there's a website or link to it Travel Tips A simple google search found this: http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/413551/63722... Others Tipping is unusual. Please visitors don't spoil things by tipping service people here. Handing out small gifts is appreciated. For instance, when our friends from central Otago, where they grow fruit, come to stay, they usually bring some fruit. When I stay at somebody's place I bring groceries or takeaways, rather than offer money. We give presents at Christmas and birthdays. We give the kids Easter eggs. When you return from overseas you often give your friends small souvenirs from where you've been. For instance, a friend who returned from Antarctica recently gave me a Hawaiian-style Scott Base shirt. My answer is not linked to a web site, sorry. I always bring a bottle of nice wine, or a homemade dessert (NOT pavlova) when I am invited over for a meal. I always appreciate receiving gifts, too. :-) |
