When do high schools in Austria start and end? |
Travel Info I mean how long is one academic year for juniors and seniors?(I would suppose it's the same for both.?) So When does the actual summer holiday start and end? Is it the same for the whole country and for all of the schools? Is it possible to be date specific? Universities probably follow own time tables...right...? Travel Tips University: academic year from October 1st - June 30th christmas break from Dec 23rd - Jan 6th (or if this is a saturday, the following monday) "semester break" - all february easter break - easter week plus several days School: dates are the same for juniors and seniors - only the "matura" classes (high school graduation year) finish their exams a week or two earlier summer and semester (=spring) holiday dates: depends on what part of Austria the school is in: Schools in the western part (Tyrol, Salzburg etc) start and finish the year and the holiday one week later than the east (Vienna, Upper and Lower Austria etc) - to prevent a total traffic desaster when everybody drives to the italian beaches or the mountains on the same day :) Schools have 8 weeks of summer holidays, 2 weeks for christmas, 2 weeks for semester break, 10 days for easter Dates 2007 - summer holidays for the western part start on friday, July 6 , the east gets to go earlier - June 29th School starts again on September 1st (or 8th in the west) |
