Travel Info I live in Santa Cruz, just north of the Monterey bay, my friends and i want to go to canada, but have a couple of question. If you could answear all of these i would really appreciate it. I want to drive the least, so if you could recoment a city in canada that ist as far from where i am, but also has a night life, clubs, bars, and restaraunt. Also im 19, whats the driking age in canada. So yea, the city thats the closest me with the most to offer for a couple of 19 year olds. Thanks. Travel Tips The closest direct line spot is Vancouver, BC, Canada, just straight up I-5, go to Expedia or Mapquest to plot your course. Passport is not necessary until January 2008 but birth certificate should be carried. The legal drinking age in British Columbia is 19. bring your ID and, if possible, your birth certificates which they may ask you for at the border crossing just past Blaine, WA. From there, you're no more than an hour away from the downtown section. Plenty of nightlife and good restaurants, your dollar goes a little bit further these days, not a whole lot but still nice. Buy your gas at ARCO stations on the way up, they are usually the least expensive. Fill up in Bellingham or Blaine. Gas in BC is WAY BAD. Lots of rest stops along the way, they are pretty safe places to take a snooze. Check out http://www.hotwire.com/ for best hotel prices, stay South of the city, like in Richmond. Just head over to the 5 and drive north. Along the way you'll hit Portland and Seattle, so stop in and have some fun! Last time I was there, the drinking age was 18. Be careful though... a male friend of mine picked up a very attractive woman in a bar and, to make a long story short, found out that it was actually a man. Also, make sure you have your passport. The closest major Canadian city would be Vancouver, BC (it's near Seattle). The legal drinking age in Canada is 19. It's a direct route from Santa Cruz, CA to Vancouver, Canada. Interstate 5 goes right through California, Oregon and Washington into Canada. It's a 16 hour drive. Go to Vancouver. Have fun. The main drag is Granville, but there is night life all around. Cheers.
