Do i need a passport to get into Canada?...i live in the U.S.? |
Travel Info if so how much does it cost...and how long will it take to obtain it? Travel Tips Effective January 23, 2007, all U.S. citizens traveling by air to and from Canada are required to have a valid passport to enter the United States. As early as January 1, 2008, U.S. citizens traveling between the United States and Canada by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid U.S. passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries. Check out this web site: http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/regi... Source(s): http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/regi... Other Travel Tips It's my understanding that at present, you don't need a passport to get into Canada. In early 2008, however, you will need a passport to get BACK into the U.S. If you are traveling by air, a passport to get back into the U.S. is already required. Screwy, no??? http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbp... not yet If you go by car, you don't need a passport until next January, 2008 and if you go by plane, you'll need one today. They cost almost $100 and if you need it in a hurry, there's an additional fee. |
