Where are people more friendly in french Canada or english Canada? |
Travel Info answer me only if u have been there and if u arent canadian becouse in that case of course u will say good things about your people Travel Tips Looks like you've had the gambit of answers here. I have been all over Canada and most people are fairly friendly. They are very friendly in Atlantic Canada (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI and Newfoundland). Francophones in Quebec are ususally friendly to tourists, especially if it is obvious that you are not an English Canadian or an Americian. If you pick up some useful French phrases, like: Ou est le toilet? - Where is the bathroom? Non merci. - No thank you Oui Si vous plaizez - yes please You'll do fine in Quebec as well. The Eastern Townships in Quebec are very friendly. Enjoy Canada! Others where did you come up with this information. I find it just the opposite You will find both nice and mean people all over canada, but i have had more than 1 run in with an angry french canadian. Especially if you don't speak french. otherwise if you speak their french they are nice too. There are more english canadians than French canadians I am going to answer even though I am Canadian and English, but I live in a French Province (Quebec). I have been to three provinces in Canada so these are the ones I can attest to: Alberta Both the cities of Calgary and Banff had the friendliest people, the most helpful, and seemed to have the best attitude. Service in restaurants and at a grocery store or mall was always pleasant and relaxed. They were almost all English. Ontario I experienced life in Ottawa, Toronto, Markham, Niagara Falls, Welland, Brockville, Kingston, and Prince Albert. In general, the smaller the town, the more friendly and warm the residents were. Ottawa and Toronto were both too busy and people seemed to be upset at each other much more there. Ottawa is a mix of English and French, while the rest of the province was mostly English. Quebec Montreal is similar to the Toronto feel. They tended to be more extreme than other cities, and what I mean is that the people were either really friendly and helpful, or they were complete snobs or rude to each other...there did not seem to be an in-between. Quebec City is more touristy, so they were either pleasant and helpful if they need your tourist dollars, or they completely ignored you if they did not. In Quebec, if you made an effort to speak a few words in French to the store clerks or waiters, you would find them more pleasant, and they may try a few words back to you in English. But if you just spoke English and made no attempts to speak the official language in Quebec, you did not seem to get as good service. This is not a tested and controlled study, by the way...It's just my experience from day to day living in Quebec. And like someone else said before me, you will always have the people willing to help you out, and you will also always have the ones who want to be rude and miserable to you. I think that attitude is universal, since I have seen it in six countries I've visited and four languages so far. I am American and for my money English Canadians are best, French Canadians are typically more rude. I have been treated very poorly by french canadians. They seem to have a chip on their shoulders as soon as they catch the english accent in your french.I cant imagine how they would be if i tried to communicate in english |
