Does US driver's license work in Canada, or do I need a international driver's license? |
Travel Info Does US driver's license work in Canada, or do I need a international driver's license? Travel Tips if you are visiting your US driver's licence is fine. Also you didn't mention if you were renting a car but here is a tip if you are to save some money- call your car insurance company in the US and they will likely give you a temporary insurance card for Canada that you can use when you rent a car so you don't have to pay for the extra insurance they want you to buy. It might take a few days to get the card because they have to mail it to you but it sure does save some $$. I use Geico and I know they offered this service to me last summer when I went. It didn't cost any extra money with Geico I just called and asked and they sent me an insurance card. Others Yes, perfectly acceptable and vice-versa Are you visiting or moving here? If you are simply visiting, your US license is fine. If you are going to be more than six months, you require a Canadian issued driver's license (even the International license is good only for 6 months.) No problems at all Use your US Driver's License. |
