The site is saying 10 weeks to get a passport currently. Maker sure ALL areas of the application are filled out before you submit it. Incomplete applications (like missing signatures) waste the agents time when they could be working on someone's passport that has all the parts correct. (to the answerer above me...why would you submit a passport that you KNOW is missing critical info...waste of agent time and YOUR money?!!?) Also, if you do the online application found on the passport site, your application prints out a barcode on it. If you are going to a passport office, this can speed up things for you. (not a receiving agent-those are different from passport offices) Others The cost total is $87.50, $65.00 for the passport and 22.50 for processing, but with the backlog now, expect 3-6 months if you mail in the application, and a 8-12 hour wait at a local office, I have been turned down 2 times as I have no one to sign it and they will not do the work until the backlog is over, so I could be waiting for 3-4 years, luckily I am not planning a trip out of the country, as I don't even have picture ID to go by bus to the US. |
