Cost of driving out east??? |
Travel Info My boyfriend and I are planning to drive out east to PEI from Ontario for a week at the end of the summer. I'm so excited, but unsure of how much it'll all cost. We're planning on taking a tent but I'm sure there'll be other costs. Does anyone know from personal experience about how much it costs??? Travel Tips From Toronto (city centre) to PEI is approximately 1,837 km (18 hours driving, non-stop). The cost of gas will depend a lot on the gas mileage of your vehicle - If you have one like mine (Dodge 6cyl 2.6l minivan), at an average of $1.20 per litre of gas, you'll pay about $75 per tank... my van gets about 700km per tank on the highway, so you're looking at about 6 tanks of gas to get you there & back or $450... less if you have a 4cyl car. Camping - $15 to 30 per night Food - if you eat out every day, figure on $75 to $100 per day for the two of you, much less if you buy sandwich makings at the grocery store and/or take a cookstove with you & eat hot dogs! You'll want to take some extra $ to pick up a souvenir, do some sightseeing, buy some Advil, get another sweater since you left yours on a rock at the last beach... Often the private campsites are cheaper than the Provincial Parks - and don't be too shy to haggle the price because you can do that. You will have a blast! Source(s): done that! Other Travel Tips Well lets see there's gas and you have to pay for the bridge on the way back...... Id factor in the cost of gas....20 hour trip..one way...with fillups every 300 miles or so, is there a ferry cost? I know there is to New Foundland, When I travel by car I factor $100 per day...covering gas, food, incidentals-you always forget something, aspirin, shampoo. I'd work out my route with camping sites and make reservations...we had a problem last year twice because of events and had to go to a hotel. |
