What is the easiest and cheapest way to move stuff from India to canada? |
Travel Info I immigrated to canada in 2003 and some of my personal stuff is lying in delhi.about 10 to 15 suitcases and trunks containing household stuff etc.which are duly declared at custom at that time and lists duly acknowledged. No doubt that a Container is best, BUT again by the time you add all the costs and expenses and insurance, plus the potential tax and duties, you are FAR better of buying all here. And making someone very happy back in India, giving them away your left behind "stuff" Trust me, you will end up happier and with far less stress!!! Others Shipping container even if it was declared when you moved here in 2003, you are only allowed 1 year to have it shipped here in Canada tax free, after one year has lapsed and it's still not here it is subject to tax. Depending on where you're staying in Canada, tax can range from 7-15%. Don't you think it will be a lot cheaper to just buy new stuff than pay customs duties and shipment? You're best bet is to find a shipping agency in Delhi rather than here in Canada. |
