Is it possible to see Pittsburgh from the CN Tower? |
Travel Info I am driving to toronto from Pittsburgh, pennslyvania and I wonder if It is possible to see my city from the CN Tower (the skypod)? Travel Tips We can't even see New York state from the Tower, let alone Pittsburgh. Source(s): Living in Toronto. Other Travel Tips I don't think so - it's pretty far away. We were in the CN Tower and I thought that we could see the Erie, PA area but that was it. No, but it is a nice trip and the tower is cool. On a perfectly clear day your can see the tower from Lewiston NY, but seeing Pittsburgh is a bit of a stretch! P.S if you get sea sick take something prior to your assent to the top of the tower. It does sway with the wind. Yes, I see it all the time. Don't forget your parka and snowshoes! Here's an excerpt from the brochure on the tower itself. "The concrete tower continues above the SkyPod, ending at the Space Deck 1,465 feet up. The Space Deck receives support from cantilevers extending out of the concrete section beneath it. After a 58-second elevator ride from the SkyPod below, visitors can enjoy breathtaking vistas from a glass-enclosed balcony. On a clear day they might be able to glimpse sites 75 miles away." Note that Pittsburgh is at least 210 miles away (as the crow flies). Therefore you would NOT be able to see any part of Pittsburgh from the tower. Nor could you see Erie, the Peace Bridge, Buffalo, or Rochester. You should be able to see the New York State shoreline, though. Not a chance of seeing pittsburgh.Even on a clear day best is NYstate but on a clear day, panoramic view.Going up the tower you have to equalize pressure in ears as very fast ascent and descent. |
