What sort of gun laws do I need to worry about entering canada? |
Travel Info I am driving through Canada, from Montana to Alaska... and I am considering buying a Marlin 1895gs Guide Gun chambered in 45-70... Can I travel with this gun through canada? Travel Tips You will have to declare it, filling in the proper paper work and paying the fee. You also have to abide by storage and transportation laws, which it is best that it is stored properly when you reach the border. You can download the declaration paperwork. As long as you don't shoot anybody... seriously. - Jonathan C I discourage bringing any weapon to Canada, there is a much tighter gun control than in US & I'm American living in Canada. You need a permit and also declare it at the border. People come to Canada to hunt all the time, so i dont see why it would be a big deal. Remember, your case has to lock and your weapon secured with a trigger lock. Your ammo travels in a seperate locking box I would strongly recommend contacting Canadian Customs long before you attempt to do this. Canada has very strict gun laws, and I am very sure there will be some sort of transportation permit if they allow it at all. Have you considered shipping the gun to Alaska and then picking it up when you get there? |
