Are there shot requirements to visit Canada? |
Travel Info I'm flying into Canada to visit family. Are there shot requirements? If so, what shots do I need to get before I travel there? Travel Tips There are no requirements for vaccinations against any diseases here in Canada, as tourists are not at significant risk to catch the diseases here as they would be in other countries, such as places in Africa. Except for an outbreak of botulism, the World Health Organization has typically only reported outbreaks of influenza since 2003. The only local diseases or outbreaks that have surfaced recently are the following: - Avian Influenza, a few reported cases in 2006 but it was contained by Health Canada. - Gastroenteritis, an outbreak in various hospitals and old age homes in the Montreal area in December 2006. - SARS, back in 2003 there was an outbreak in several hospitals in the Toronto area. - Lyme disease, caused by exposure to deer ticks when in rural area, such as from camping or hiking trips.
