Sun in May, Mexico or Dominican Republic ? And Mosquitoes ? |
Travel Info We plan vacantion 1 week end of May in Dominican Republic (Punta Cana) or in Mexico (Cozumel). Anybody knows where we can expect less rain ? or better conditions for snorkelling ? I don't care some rain in the day, I just wan't to be sure that snorkelling will be good. And what about Mosquitoes at this time of the year for both places ? Thank you ! Travel Tips Try looking up stats at wunderground.com but then again no one is the weather man, hope for the best =) Others I can help with the mosquitoes. Very bad in the Dominican Republic. Lived there and bought a lot of Raid. Don't know about Mexico. Not sure about the weather in Cozumel in May, however the snorkeing there is great. Way way better than the DR I have been to Cozumel a couple of times in May, we had a little rain at night but it passes quickly. The snorkeling in Cozumel is excellent and depending where you are staying, you can do off shore snorkeling easy. Weather wise Punta Cana area will also get some rain but moves out fast. Off shore snorkeling was not that great. The snorkeling excursions were okay. I thinks the snorkeling is much better in Cozumel. You need to bring some repellent with deet for those mosquitoes. They spray but those no-see-ums always find me.) the weather should be similar in both areas. I have never been to cozumel, but in all the carribean (even south FL) the days are sunny & warm & there is usually a strong quick storm in the evening that passes quick & the sun comes right back. & mosquitos are bad anywhere that is warm & humid. They are small fast mosquitos. Dont go out at dusk or dawn, that is when they come out to feed. |
