HELP! which island in the caribbean would you choose and why?

Travel Info
i would like answers from people that have been here. my hubby and i are going for the first time. want something romantic, scenic, and fun. we don't need crazy nightlife, though. something a little laid- back would be nice. we are 28 and 31 y.o. and have only been married a few years. it seems like there are a lot of beautiful places- i am having a hard time narrowing it down. it seems like barbados, anguilla, and st. john's are up at the tops of people's lists. what about st. lucia? we are planning a last minute trip and are looking at going in late june. please give me some valuable insight! THANKS!

Travel Tips
Anguilla has some of the best beaches in the world, and some very good places to eat. Is very laid back otherwise, without much else to do but lounge, soak up the sun, and relax. You can easily do a day trip via ferry to St. Martin for shopping and touristy things. Then return to Anguilla to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Providenciales (Turks and Caicos) is very similar to Anguilla, and very nice as well.

However, other than amazing and flawless beaches, Anguilla and Providenciales aren't that scenic tree/jungle wise.

I think St. Lucia would be your best bet. Nice beaches, jungle, lots to explore and see, etc. It also isn't nearly as $ as the other two I mentioned.

For finding a great place to stay, this site is hard to beat:

Others
Go a bit north to Bermuda.
It is perfect.
Rent bikes or motorbikes.
Take them on ferry to one end of island and ride back to Hamilton.
Tons of bed and breakfasts...Pricy island for hotels.
It is a summer destination because it is further north and not perfect in winter.
Everything south gets hot and humid.
Except perhaps Aruba has crosswinds and is cooler than other places in the summer..More bearable anyway.
There are few bad places in the caribbean. ..
I mentioned my favorites. Get a good travel agent and they will show you the best options.
I've been to several of them and here's my opinion, based on my experiences.

St. Thomas and St. John are both US Virgin Islands and they are typical tourist places. Lots of bars and tourist style hangouts. Very Americanized. The advantage here is the shopping, especially jewelry.

St. Lucia was nice, but it is very poor. Once you get off the tourist strip it gets pretty seedy. The solicitation of tourists was really intense here. Maybe not the best first experience.

The Bahamas are cheap to visit, close by for quick trips, and very Americanized. Great shopping, great beaches, and very friendly people.

My absolute favorites were Aruba and Curacao. Both are Dutch colonies and the two cultures make a great little mix. Nice place for couples, great beaches and shopping, good nightlife (without being spring break-like), and definitely the most beautiful of the islands I've visited.

Hope you enjoy your trip!
We have been to several of the islands, and I LOVE St Lucia. Barbados is also great, as is St Johns, St Thomas, Guadeloupe, Grenada, St Maarten, San Juan, the Bahamas, Antigua, Dominica, but my favorite is probably Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands. When the cruises are in port George Town is a bit nuts, as is any cruise stop city, but I love the area and 7-mile beach is by my favorite beach just ahead of Kaanapali on Maui.
Hi i am a travel agent and i can tell you from personal and customers experience your best bet is St. Lucia, beautiful island, amazing beaches and resorts, wonderful people and cuisine, there is so much too see and do in this beautiful island, i think you and your husband are going to have an amazing time, please email is i you need a cheap package deal.thanks.enjoy .

Have you looked into St Barts? It seems to draw a bit more more wealthy, artistic (and more "mature") crowd and they are great at meeting tourists needs.

Places like Paradise Island in the Bahamas are tailor made for tourism with lots to do, daytrips to outlying islands, water sports, etc. The smaller islands have less of the ready made entertainment. I went to St Kitts last year. BEAUtiful, but not made for the easily bored.
We went to Roatan Honduras and got open water scuba certified. Very cool and great instructors. We stayed in the West Bay area (at Bananarama) where they had water taxis to a very cool little village of West End a couple miles up the beach. I would def. go back there. In Feb. the water was 100ft visibility and 82 degrees. The island is not as developed as alot of other places (altho its changing) which made us feel more like a part of the island rather than a source of revenue. Wonderful people excellant food, great snorkling and diving at a more reasonable price than some of the bigger names.....
