Legal drinking age in St. Maarten?

I am going on vacation in June and i am wondering what is the legal drinking age in St. Maarten? I heard its 18, but i am just double checking!!! Turning 18 in August, if it is 18, will they be strict about i.d's???

The legal drinking age in Belize (according to my research) is also supposed to be 18, but I can assure you from having lived there that both alcohol and tobacco is frequently served to all ages, especially if you look like you've at least hit puberty. I've never heard of anybody there getting ID'd. In fact, I don't think a lot of people there even have ID, so it would be impractical for places to try and make money if they only served to people who had ID. I bet St. Maarten isn't that different.

It is 18 years. You probably have as good or better a chance to be illegally served as in the U.S.
