How to speak creole? |
Travel Info I wanna speak creole Travel Tips It is just a slightly altered version of French. If you speak French you can understand and also speak "creole." Others Come to the Island of Dominica(N.B not to mistaken with the spanish speaking Dominican Republic) We speak Patois here. And I wouldnt consider Creole/Patois as simply an alterration to french as the other yahoo user said. The reason being that there are other influences in the langauge stemming from africa and also there are a few variations in the patois/creole language across the islands that speak them. Good luck. Creole is a fairly generic term for a language that is a conglomerate of several languages. It is often assumed that, for example, all the islanders in the Caribbean can communicate via a common Creole language. Not true. There are several islands, that, if you know French, Spanish and an African language (and/or Indian), you might get by. Others, Spanish, Dutch and hey, again an African language, you might get a smile. In Louisiana, the Creole is a mix of French, English, and who knows what. Oh, of course an African language (and/or Indian). None the less, where ever Creole or patois is spoken, it is mellifluous, and beautiful. |
