I'm Going Snorkeling for the First Time. What should I expect? Any advice? |
Travel Info I'm Going Snorkeling for the First Time. What should I expect? Any advice? Travel Tips Snorkeling is amazing. I just went for the first time last summer. If you are going with a company that offers snorkeling, they will advise you with everything you need to know and supply you with the equipment. Two pieces of advice if you are snorkeling from a boat. Leave you flippers and mask on until you get in the boat. And walk up the ladder with you back towards the boat, that is the easiest way to get on. You might also want to try spitting in your mask and rubbing it around, it is supposed to help keep you mask from getting foggy. Most of all just enjoy it. You will see so many amazing things. I saw a barracuda when I was snorkeling, it freaked me out a bit at first, but when you realize they don't have much interest in you they are just curious everything is okay. Others Advise : put your head under water..... Snorkeling is great! Just make sure to take it easy- it can be very tiring especially for a beginner. Take an underwater camera with you and make sure your mask fits just perfect. It sucks to have a bad mask that takes in water- you won't be comfortable or have a good time. Have fun! Snorkeling is my favorite thing to do. I feel totally at peace, swimming with the fish. You may have to get used to the feeling of breathing through the snorkel and not through your nose. Try to relax and not be afraid of it. Definitely make sure your mask fits well. Another piece of advice: try to swim with the current (it's really tiring to swim against it!) Enjoy! |
