Do I need any inoculations for a holiday in the Caribbean? |
Travel Info Going on a Caribbean cruise next month. Do I need any inoculations for the trip? Will be visiting various islands, do they all have the same rules regarding inoculations? Travel Tips None needed or required. Just try to NOT drink any local water, always buy from the ships vendors or bars. Others yes, you will. I am in the Dominican Republic right now, and I have gotten typhoid, Malaria, Hep A & B, and Yellow fever, because I was spending about a month along the Haiti border, where there's an outbreak. the best thing for you to do is check out the CDC's website for the places that you will be visiting, and they will list the needed vaccines and recommended vaccines. then go to your doctor to discuss getting them, because some like the Hepatitus series need a month ahead to be effective, and he may need to order what he doesn't have. Have fun! Na. You need your head examined to go there! I've been on about 8 cruises to the Caribbean and have never needed any. If you are unsure contact your travel agent or the cruise line directly. Have fun! no! You do not need any vaccines. The Caribbean is a relatively safe place to travel but if you are in doubt than contact the website for the ship or your travel agent. We had Typhoid and Hep A and B last year before we went to Cuba, Malaria and Yellow Fever are two of the others that you can have done but our doctor said they weren't necessary for Cuba, pop along to your doctors surgery and the receptionist will tell you if you need to have any injections or you can pop into any pharmacist on the high street who will also advise you on any injections you might need, have a wonderful holiday and enjoy yourself. |
