What is the best way to donate books to a library in St. Lucia? |
Travel Info A few years ago I visited St. Lucia, an island nation in the Caribbean. It is a very poor country with virtually no industry. I was very impressed by the people of St. Lucia. Despite the unlucky circumstances they are very proud, hard-working, talented people with a great interest in education and learning. When I saw a library in the town of Sufriere I noticed that it did not have enough books and learning materials for schoolchildren. It occured to me that we, people living in the US and Europe, can help them to replenish their libraries with good books about science, history, music, etc. What would be the best way of donating books to a libarry in St. Lucia and what would be the best way of encouraging other people to do the same? I would contact colleges and universities. All of us know when we go to University they change 1 word in the damn book and its no longer good we need version 4.3 instead of 4.2. And the book is useless. You could start a campain at each of the colleges where somebody that is majoring in whatever doenst care about the econ 101 book. But the college wont buy it back to sell as used. Crap I think I have around 20-30 I will never look at again. Get the students involved and let them donate books to your cause when they cant sell them back. Im sure you can find plenty of people in college that will help your community service idea, and probably pay to have the books shipped for that service. I think its a great cause but I suggest thats the easiest way to start. tell harvard |
