Do I need to get a passport to go to Aruba? |
Travel Info I'm 19, never flown outside the country before. Have been to Puerto rico and other islands in caribbean on a cruise, but never plane. I want to go to Aruba with friends in 2-3 weeks, do I need a passport? I heard of a new rule where you might not need passports for certain locations/islands anymore, anyone know? Travel Tips Aruba is a foreign port. If you don't already have a passport, forget this trip, they won't let you board a ship or airplane without one. Others It's a bit complex click the link below and read.. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw... http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw... this is the passport site. read it http://travel.state.gov/passport/passpor... yes you do need a passport to go to Aruba you also need a passport to re-enter the us if you have a passport you need to take it. but if you dont have one i dont htink you can take the trip because it takes about 10-12 weeks to get a passport... Yes, you definitely need a passport for Aruba. My wife and I spent our honeymoon there about 6 months ago, and we needed our passports to get in because Aruba is its own country. The 1st answerer gave you the website for the correct info. you need to go to the website PRONTO, print out the forms. take them to the post office and turn in your application for a passport. ASK if they know jow long it will take for your passport to show up in the system. You will need your application receipt. Then you can follow the directions on the site for the current "flexibility" program to fly without a passport. You are cutting it very close, so i hope this works for you. All this is for FLYING. If you are going by ship, you may not need the passport. technically, the law requiring passports for sea travel does not go into effect until next Jan., but some cruise lines are requiring their passengers to have passports now. If you are travelling by ship, you will need to call the cruise line and ask their policy. Good luck Regardless you have to apply for a passport. The new rules about having proof of application and a license are only for re-entry into the US. And most of the cruise lines are not allowing one to board period now as there has been too much confusion as to the rules. There are also many cases in which people have been told that they would be fine only to find out they are not. Aruba is its own country and absolutley requires a passport..... no ifs ands or buts. |
