I`m going to St. Maarten on Sat. for vacation what do you think is worth seeing there? |
Travel Info I went there last year for Scuba diving and will include that as part of my vacation again on the Dutch side. I went to Orient beach on the French side but did not explore that side of the Island that much. I `am going for 1 week , if you have been there and have any places you reccomend let me know please. Travel Tips French side beaches, Simpson lake, walk up the fort, french restraunts, fresh seafood markets...and take a tour of the island, or rent a car. Fort Lewis sounds like the fort I climbed. A open fish market was in front of it a few hundred yards. I've never scuba dived, but I took a glass bottom boat ride and it was fun. They had a submarine you could ride, but it was 10 years ago so I don't know if you still can. I was going to ride the submarine but my mom didn't want to. Others i went there on a cruis. If your going with family i recommend you check which beaches you go to. When my family went we went to a beach that i believe was called oriental beach, and it was right next to a nudist beach and people were walking around naked so if you have kids its not a good idea. the houses are great there. snorkiling, scuba diving, parasailing and jet skiing are all offered there...good luck and have fun!!! I visited on a cruise and we stopped at a place called Fort Louis, It was a huge fort placed on a cliff to protect the island from pirates. If your into the cultural history of places you visit I think you would enjoy it. Have you tried the parasailing? |
