Travel Tips Besides going to St. John, be sure to go to Megan's bay ...gorgeous beach with great snorkelling; Coki Beach... a *locals* beach with great snorkelling, too: and next door to Coki Beach, be sure to go to Coral World. You can feed stingrays, see sea turtles and also go into one of the few viewing areas, kind of like a tower, that you go inside and walk from above sea level to well below and get to see what lives at various levels of the water. Be sure to go on a day when a lot othe cruise ships are NOT in Charlotte Amalie because these places tend to get very crowded. Also go into Charlotte Amalie and shop and go to the outdoor market area...much like a flea market with incredible prices. For the BEST island food, check out Fungi's near Point pleasant resort. Other Travel Tips Go to Red Hook and get the ferry over to St Johns for a day of sightseeing or even snorkeling in the underwater park !!! Red Hook has a few spots for fun at night too Go see the Rastifarian dude with his hair all up in a stockin hat he's got the gonge We were in St.Thomas for a week last October and had a GREAT time !! Spend one day walking around Charlotte Amalie where all the shops are. Be sure to walk down every alleyway since you never know whats there. Lots of souvenir shops with rum and spices and candy. Tons of jewelery shops and lots of art galleries. Restaurant for lunch = Glady's (the locals go here)and for dinner try Cousin's(unusual Caribbean dishes). Check out Fort Christenson and the tiny museum with the ever changing exhibit. Be sure to climb the 99 Steps and see the Harbor view. Right before sunset, take the cable car to Lookout Point and watch the cruise ships sail into the night. Wednesday night is FREE and there is a band. One day take the ferry to St. John. Ask any cab driver to take you on an island tour and be sure he takes you to the old sugar plantation. Get dropped off at Trunk Bay and have lunch/go swimming/snorkeling. Any taxi will take you back to the ferry when the beach closes for the night. One day go on a boat tour of the British Virgin Islands. Your hotel will arrange this for you. Go to The Baths (rock formations), Virgin Gorda (Pusser's Rum) and Jost Van Dyke (Soggy Dollar Bar). Remember to RELAX at your hotel and enjoy the beach and pool !! www.CaribeResource.com |
