Travel Tips The weather is usually very nice that time of year (as long as there's no active hurricanes). You just need to keep in touch with the weather forecasts before making your final decision!! For more info visit http://www.antiguanice.com Others September is the height of hurricane season. The weather will be hot & humid. If there is a tropical system in the area, the seas may be rough. The ship may not be able to sail to a scheduled port of call to avoid a tropical storm. Now, with all the negatives out of the way, the seas may be beautifully calm, if a tropical system has passed, you will see some amazingly beautiful sunsets! I love September & October in the tropics myself! Just be prepared. Pack lightweight clothing, a rain poncho, a misting fan & have a few zip-lock bags to keep cameras, wallets, etc dry. If the seas are rough, eat very lightly, many people swear eating an apple helps with the queasiness. Try to stay in large open areas, staying in your stateroom can really bring on seasickness. It'll be very hot and humid, BUT, statistically, no, it's not a bad time to go. There have been some storm systems going through when I've been there in September, but they whisked over us and we were never brothered by them. The advantage is that because it is hurricane season (teamed with kids being in school and not able to go with family on vacations as easily), the cruises are the best priced around that time of the year. The disadvantage is if there is a hurricane, your cruise may divert to other ports than what was on the itinerary to get around the hurricane. In the worse case scenario, your cruise will be canceled if the cruise you are going to be on has to stay away from the home Port due to a hurricane. But with that in mind, cruise insurance is a great investment for the cost of the insurance. Been on many cruises Cruises plan their sailings throughout the year, just be hopeful that you don't get side tracked due to a hurricane, but they wouldn't sail if they thought it was a danger. ....think of it as we can't predict weather, even with past stats, enjoy yourself and be aware of the weather by keeping yourself informed while abroad..... =) What did you think when you got it cheap??Of course. Last time , a year before Katrina,also very bad hurricanes,in a week time I saw only a couple of guests outside their cabins.Most of the time they were in the bathroom,sick. well yes but it depends where in the caribbean it is going because the lesser antilles or the leeward island haven't had a hurricane for about 5 years now |
