In St. Lucia, what is the best beach area for a vacation (luxury resort)? |
Travel Info Soufriere, Castries, Gros Islet, any others? Which has the softest sand and the prettiest waters--in your opinion. Nothing rocky with tons of hard shells. Travel Tips Beaches and Swimming in St. Lucia St. Lucia鈥檚 prettiest beaches and calmest waters are located along the west coast of the island. The types range from beautiful white sands in the north, to golden-yellow, and black sands to the south. All the large resorts are located along a lovely beach front, offering the visitor adequate convenience for doing the obvious - sun tanning and kicking back under a coconut tree doing nothing as the day goes by; the dream of the first-time North American and European visitor. There are other lovely white- and yellow-sand public beaches, with the exception of Soufriere which is black, that are not associated with a major resort or hotel and, are popular among the locals. Visitors have easy access to the following: Castries: Any location between Vigie Beach (adjacent to George F.L. Charles Airport) and Choc Bay Beach Gros Islet: Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay Pigeon Point Causeway Pigeon Point National Park Smuggler's Cove Soufriere: Soufri猫re Bay Swimming for the average person is NOT recommended on the east coast of the island due to rocky near-shore shelves, strong undercurrents and, high energy waves which are generated by the Atlantic Ocean. Only the most confident swimmers should take to the water. Sun burns: Most visitors come to the tropics to get a suntan by spending hours at the beach lying in the hot sun. Please note that if your skin isn't protected, you can get first- and second-degree burns! Sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 is recommended. I wish you a happy vacation, but remember to take care of yourself. Others In my opinion there isn't a bad beach in St Lucia.. It is a beautiful island.. Because of the reefs you will not have to worry about the shells. They get stuck in the reefs off shore so most don't make it to shore at all.. I would look into Ladera or Sandles Regency or Grande. Jalousie Plantation. Very First Class. Good Luck i stayed at Sandals Grande in st lucia ....gros inlet is nice , south of the Castries bay port is nice too. the whole west coast is real nice. |
